The Associated Press, July 31, 2001
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) - A man was convicted of felony child abuse Tuesday for using an electric cattle prod on his 5-year-old daughter and 8-year-old stepson as punishment for misbehavior.

Jamie Henry, 24, pleaded no contest and prosecutors agreed to drop other charges.

Henry admitted to using the prod, which is about 24 inches long, Sheriff's Lt. Jim Castleberry testified at a preliminary hearing. He also said Henry admitted to striking the children with plastic hangers, shoes, his hands and a belt, and to tying the boy up several times.
