Janesville, WI: A Clinton woman accused of spanking and dragging her 10-year-old stepdaughter because the girl refused to say what she told a social worker at school has been charged with child abuse.

Anna Ott, 27, of 10212 E. Bradford-Clinton Townline Road, also is accused of feeding her stepdaughters, ages 10 and 13, only hot dogs, not allowing the children to order food when the family went out to eat and requiring the girls to sleep on the laundry room floor.

On Sept. 19, Ott was upset because the 10-year-old refused to say what she'd told a social worker at school earlier that day, according to the complaint.

The 10-year-old also told police that she and her sister are made to sleep on the floor and go to the bathroom outside because their stepmother doesn't trust them in the house, according to the criminal complaint.

When the 10-year-old woke up at 3 a.m. Sept. 6 and needed to use the bathroom, Ott wouldn't allow it and made the girl stand on the stairs, according to the complaint.

When the girl protested to her father, Patrick Ott, he made her go to the bathroom and write, "I will not get up at 3 a.m. to go to the bathroom," according to the complaint. When the girl objected, her father pushed her head onto the bathroom counter, injuring her. The girl said her father said, "I may have just broken her nose," according to the complaint.

Patrick Ott has been ordered to appear in court Nov. 8, when he is expected to face similar charges.
