The girl's mom found bruising on her daughter the day after her husband told his wife he only spanked the little girl once.
News 4 learned the mom rushed her 5-year-old daughter to Wilford Hall to be examined by doctors. After carefully examining the little girl in the hospital's emergency room, police arrested 22-year-old Nicholas Ryan Daily.
Daily is now accused of spanking the little girl to the point that her entire butt and back of her legs are severely bruised.
In the arrest affidavit obtained by News 4, the girl's mom told police she was about to give her daughter a bath when she noticed the bruising on her daughter's butt. Also it states, "the bruising had patterns of a palm and fingers." The affidavit adds that doctors found "marks several inches long resembling scratching."
Child Protective Services is investigating, and News 4 learned a case worker came to Wilford Hall to look at the injuries and said "the injury is too excessive for discipline."
Daily's been charged with assault/bodily injury to a child.
