Namaskar Arumugaswami,
Advocate Sharda informed me today that this morning the Delhi High Court pronounced a landmark judgement which strongly disapproves of child beating in schools. He maintains that this judgement will have far reaching consequences on the matter. Please convey this good news to Paramacharya Bodhinatha who had met Sharda during his Delhi visit.Sharda would be able to provide me with the copy of this important judgement in the coming few days,he said.Sharda's own role in this case is commendable becasue the judgement came in response to a public interest writ filed by him a year back.

December 7, 2000Dear Friends,
Best Wishes and regards.
I compliment you for your committment to the cause of establishing an environment of peace and harmony for children. I am glad to draw your attention to a landmark judgement delivered by the High Court of Delhi whereby it has been held that provisions of corporal punishment to children in the Delhi State Education Act and Rules 1973 are unconstitutional bringing to an end grave abuse of the rights of a small sized human. The judgement declares that a child has all those rights as are enjoyed by a grown up human under article 21 of the Constitution of India. The judgement further directs the state to ensure that children are imparted education in an environment of freedom and dignity free from fear.
It is an historic judgement delivered by Hon'ble Judge Mr. Anil Dev Singh and Hon'ble Judge Dr. Mukundkam Sharma. The content of the judgement meets all challenges hithertobefore thrown up by mindless humans who perpetuated this abuse. It has paved the way for our children to grow and aspire with positive hope that they are also an essential part of the scheme of Almighty. The judgement also hits at the very root of the justification of violence in the name of improving the quality of human. It has the potential of being a tremendous resource for total peace on mother Earth. The judgement connects and establishes logical connection of the spiritual with real.It accepts and upholds that Life in its extended meaning enfolds not only the body but also the faculties through which it is enjoyed including that of the faculty of feeling. A copy of the judgement is available with me. It was indeed a life time experience representing the petition and receiving the Judgement. God has been kind to his own incarnation as a small human- The Child. The message is clear- DO NOT TAMPER WITH THE DIGNITY OF CHILD.
Representatives of Hinduism Today had met me after the petition was preferred and the news of its admission was out in press. I met them through their India corresspondent in New Delhi when i had the opportunity to learn that they were also fighting the menace of child abuse . I was also pleased to learn that many other well meaning organisations were also fighting for this cause all across the globe.
Yours in quest to eradicate child abuse from the face of Mother Planet Earth.
P.S.Sharda
